Disgraced Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to a new sex crime charge in New York. Weinstein, 72, who had emergency heart surgery just over a week ago, appeared in a Manhattan courtroom in a wheelchair to enter his plea to a single count of committing a criminal sexual act. The once-powerful movie mogul was unshaven and appeared pale and visibly frail during his brief court appearance before Judge Curtis Farber. He was wearing a dark suit, a white shirt and a blue tie. US Alleges Iranian Hackers Sent Stolen Trump Info To Biden Campaign

US authorities on Wednesday said Iranian cyberattackers had offered “stolen, non-public” material from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign to staff for his then White House rival, Joe Biden. US intelligence and law enforcement agencies said the hackers “sent unsolicited emails to individuals then associated with President Biden’s campaign that contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former president Trump’s campaign.” Biden was at the time the Democratic presidential nominee, before dramatically stepping aside in July and endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris. MQ-9B Drone Conducts Controlled Ditching After Technical Failure Off Chennai

US House Subpoenas Blinken Over Afghanistan On September 24

The U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee subpoenaed Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday to appear before it on Sept. 24 over the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. “If Secretary Blinken fails to appear, the chairman will proceed instead with a full committee markup of a report recommending the U.S. House of Representatives find Secretary Blinken in contempt of Congress for violating a duly issued subpoena,” according to a statement from the committee. The committee had previously wanted Blinken to appear on Sept. 19. The State Department said earlier this month that Blinken was not available to testify on the dates proposed by the committee, but has proposed “reasonable alternatives.”

Sumatra squall hits Singapore with 83.2 kmph speed

<p> Singapore, Sep 19 (PTI): Gusty winds brought about by a Sumatra squall from the Strait of Malacca hit Singapore on Tuesday evening with a speed of 83.2kmh, uprooting more than 300 trees, an unprecedented event in recorded history.</p><p> The squall moved fast across the whole island from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, according to media reports on Wednesday. The highest wind gust recorded in Singapore was 144.4 kmh on April 25, 1984.</p><p> The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said: “More rainfall is likely in the last week of the month, with thundery showers expected on most afternoons.
