The Bengal government has written to the junior doctors protesting against the rape-murder of a colleague, asking them to participate in  a discussion. The email came as the doctors marched to the health secretariat today and is camping out there, seeking immediate resignation of several senior officials and the city police chief. Government To Implement Satellite-Based Toll Collection

Vehicles equipped with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) On-Board Units (OBUs) will have the capability to automatically pay tolls based on the distance they cover. In a development that could fast track highway travel, the government has notified updates to the existing National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. The centre wants to introduce toll collection through satellite-based systems which could help highway travellers to avoid the long queues that still exist despite the implementation of mandatory Fastags. The updates include the addition of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) along with the On-board Units (OBUs) as a method for toll collection. Centre Sends 2,000 More Paramilitary Personnel To Violence-Hit Manipur

The Centre has directed deployment of two fresh CRPF battalions comprising about 2,000 personnel for security duties in ethnic strife-torn Manipur, official sources said Tuesday. The battalion number 58 is being moved from Warangal in Telangana while the one numbered 112 is being sent from Latehar in Jharkhand. The first unit will have its headquarter in Kangvai (Churachandpur) in Manipur while the second will be stationed around Imphal, the sources told PTI. They said the move has been ordered following the withdrawal of two Assam Rifles battalions from Manipur for operational duties in Jammu and Kashmir and some other parts of the Northeast.
