The Supreme Court on Friday directed a Union government-appointed committee probing the death of three civil services aspirants in the basement of a coaching centre in Delhi in July to submit an interim report about the measures it wanted to be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents within four weeks. With the Tirupati laddu row snowballing into a major controversy, the Karnataka government on Friday issued a circular instructing all temples under the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department to maintain quality in the “prasada” prepared there. <p>Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, Officer-in-Charge of Tala police station, have been remanded to CBI custody until September 25. The pair was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Sealdah on Friday. The CBI has sought permission to conduct a Narco test on Sandip Ghosh and a polygraph test for Abhijit Mondal.
