If accepted, Uniform Civil Code could be in place in the state before November 9. The Uttarakhand Assembly had passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill in February. On March 13, the bill was signed off by President Droupadi Murmu, making it possible for the state to become the first in the country to implement it.  Last month, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had said the state government will implement the Uniform Civil Code before November 9. “Apart from the anti-copying law, the state government has… Read More »Uttarakhand One Step Closer To Uniform Civil Code, Panel Ready With Rules

Haryana And Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Poll Results 2024: Date, Time, When And Where To Watch

Election results for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir polls will be counted on Tuesday. Exit polls have predicted a sweeping win for the Congress in Haryana, adding that the National Conference-Congress alliance will emerge as the largest party in Jammu and Kashmir.  If the exit polls predictions hold true, it will be a big setback for the BJP since the losses in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.  Warning: The exit polls do not always get it right. They have been way off the mark in the past. The most recent example being the general elections.  Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday exuded confidence in forming a government “alone”, saying, they have “all the… Read More »Haryana And Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Poll Results 2024: Date, Time, When And Where To Watch

ICC Punishes India Star For Fiery Send-Off To Nida Dar In Women’s T20 WC

India pace bowler Arundhati Reddy was on Monday reprimanded for giving an aggressive send-off to Pakistan’s Nida Dar during their Women’s T20 World Cup contest. Raw pace has got him the attention but Mayank Yadav knows that it is consistency that will assure him of a steady run in Indian cricket after overcoming several fitness-related “ups and downs” to make an eagerly-anticipated international debut. The 21-year-old Delhi speedster, who had bowled the 10 fastest deliveries (all above 150 clicks) in the IPL this year, unsettled the Bangladesh batters with his speed in the opening T20 International here on Sunday. His figures of 1/21 in four overs with 14 dot balls in his maiden international appearance dispelled all doubts about his fitness status. “I was excited, but to be honest, I was a little more nervous because I was making a… Read More »“Pace In My Mind But…”: 156.7 Kmph Pace Sensation Reveals Key To Success

Satellite Data Shows Punjab Farm Fires Lowest In 3 Years

Stubble burning in Punjab, shows data, has been lowest in the last three years. Data from NASA’s Worldview satellite, which detects fire events around the world, corroborates the assertion made by the Punjab government that stubble burning, a major cause of air pollution, in the state this year has been a fraction of what it has been over the last two years. Stubble burning is a significant concern in Delhi and neighbouring states, as winter conditions trap pollutants, leading to hazardous air quality and thick smog. One will still have to wait for a few weeks to be sure that the air this year remains cleaner across large parts of the Indo-Gangetic plain, the initial… Read More »Satellite Data Shows Punjab Farm Fires Lowest In 3 Years
