10 Most Climate-Vulnerable Countries Got Less Than $1 Year Climate Finance: Report

As world leaders meet at the 2024 UN climate conference (COP29) in Azerbaijan, a new report by an international development agency on Thursday said people living in 10 most climate-vulnerable countries received less than $1 a year in climate finance. It warned world leaders must stop “chasing shadows” with attempts to make up for insufficient and poor-quality public finance with private contributions. The New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), the framework for mobilising finance to accelerate climate action in lower-income countries, is due to dominate the discussions amongst world leaders, earning COP29 its “Finance COP” title. Major Social Media Crackdown In Andhra, 100 Cases Filed, 39 Arrested

The N Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh has launched a massive crackdown against social media posts targeting political leaders and their family members. As many as 100 police cases have been registered, 39 people arrested and 67 notices issued for social media content that police say could promote conflict between groups. Many of these posts target Chief Minister Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari, his son and minister Lokesh’s wife Brahmini, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s daughters and also state Congress chief YS Sharmila. Chief minister Naidu has told his party members to remain dignified in their response to the provocative posts. Baba Siddique Shooter Waited Near Hospital For 30 Minutes To Confirm Death

Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused in the murder case of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, revealed that after the firing, he stood outside the Lilavati Hospital – where the politician was taken – to ascertain if Mr Siddique died or survived the attack, the police said. The shooter, who quickly changed his shirt after the firing, told the police that he stood outside the hospital for 30 minutes among the crowd. He left as soon he came to know that Mr Siddique’s condition was very critical. Mr Siddique, 66, was shot dead in Mumbai’s Bandra on October 12 at 9:11 pm, the police said.
