Over 200 Senior Doctors Resign In Support Of Juniors’ Protest In Bengal

Over 100 more senior doctors from four other state-run medical colleges and hospitals in West Bengal have tendered mass resignations during the last couple of hours to express solidarity with their junior colleagues protesting and holding a fast-unto-death against the rape and murder of a junior doctor of R.G. Kar Medical Colleges & Hospital in August. With this, total number of senior doctors tendering mass resignations from as many as six hospitals during the day has crossed 200. Jaipur Court, Giving Benefit Of Doubt, Acquits 8 In 37-Year-Old Case Of Sati Glorification

A special court in Jaipur on Wednesday acquitted eight accused in a 37-year-old case of glorification of Sati, and gave them “the benefit of doubt”, a lawyer said. The special court has acquitted 25 others in the case in 2004. Four accused are still absconding and some of them have died. According to Defence counsel Amanchain Singh Shekhawat, the alleged Sati incident took place in Diwarala village of Sikar on September 4, 1987 when Roop Kanwar burnt herself alive on her husband’s pyre. A 43-year-old woman in China is being praised online for her remarkable ability to climb cliffs exceeding 100 meters in height without safety gear. According to the South China Morning Post, Luo Dengpin, who has earned the title of “Chinese Spider-Woman,” is recognised as the world’s only female practitioner of the ancient Miao tradition of bare-handed rock climbing. She is able to climb a 108-metre-high cliff, which is equivalent to a 30-storey building, and effortlessly move across vertical rock faces.  According to SCMP, Ms Luo is currently the only female among the region’s “spider people”.
