UP Rolls Back Decision On Prayagraj Job Exam After Massive Protests By Students

Amid a growing political row over the students’ protest in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission today decided to hold a key recruitment exam in a single shift. While the prelims for the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) exam will be held in one day, the commission has decided to set up a committee to look into how the exam to recruit review officers (RO) and assistant review officers (RO) can be conducted.

<p>Online local services business platform Sulekha has moved the Supreme Court against Madras High Court directions to take down its advertisements published by lawyers.</p> <p>Madras High Court in its judgment had directed the Bar Councils to take action against advocates soliciting work through online portals and online service providers allowing advocates to advertise.</p> <p>The digital platform has contended that such a direction can lead to creation of economic barriers for certain lawyers which may result in creation of different classes within advocates. Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar has sparked controversy with his remarks targeting Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Rising Seas To Cost Pacific Island Nations $10 Billion – Their 20-Year GDP

Adapting to a sea level rise of up to 0.5 metres (1.64 feet) will cost the three most vulnerable Pacific atoll nations nearly $10 billion – equivalent to about 20 years of gross domestic product – the World Bank said in a report on Thursday. Kiribati, Tuvalu and Marshall Islands are among the smallest, most remote and dispersed countries in the world, spread across 6.4 million square kilometres (2.47 million square miles) of Pacific Ocean, where residents live at an elevation of no more than 2-3 metres, the report said.
