Doctors Hold Protest Meet In Kolkata, Facing Off State’s Puja Carnival

Protesting junior doctors in Kolkata launched their ‘Droher Carnival’ (carnival of protest) today from city centre Esplanade – a short distance from the Red Road where the state government was hosting the Durga Puja Carnival.  The puja carnival, showcasing award-winning idols, has been a high-point of the city’s festive landscape since 2016. But today, most footfalls were at the adjacent protest site, where the citizens decided to show support to the doctors who are holding an indefinite hunger strike.  With several doctors indisposed, two more have joined their ranks. “Investigating”: Aviation Body After Bomb Threats To 6 Flights In Under 48 Hours

After six planes received bomb threats in less than 48 hours, causing one of them to be diverted to a remote airport in Canada, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has said that it is investigating the episode. Officials said Tuesday’s threats were issued from an unverified handle on X, formerly Twitter.  Three flights, one each from Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express, were affected on Tuesday after the threats were issued from an X handle which began posting on the social media platform in the afternoon. Samsung Workers Call Off Strike, Ready To Resume Work: Tamil Nadu

Over a month-long indefinite strike by the employees of Samsung India Electronics Ltd at its plant near here was called off on Tuesday and the workers have decided to resume work, the Tamil Nadu government said. The state government in a statement said the strike at the factory of the Korean electronics giant in Sriperumbudur has come to an end and all the workers would get back to work.
