J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Meets PM Narendra Modi In Delhi

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday during his first visit to the national capital after assuming office last week, officials said. In a remarkable victory in the recent assembly polls in the union territory, the first in 10 years, Abdullah’s National Conference won 42 of the 90 assembly seats. In its first cabinet meeting, the new government passed a resolution urging the central government to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Disputes Must Be Settled By Dialogue, Agreements Respected’: Jaishankar At BRICS Outreach Session

<p>External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday addressed the BRICS Outreach session in Russia’s Kazan, asserting that disputes and differences must be settled by dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Wednesday remark that war was not a solution to conflicts.</p> <p>He also highlighted that addressing conflicts and tensions effectively is the “particular need of the day”, adding that the agreements, once reached, must be respected.</p> <p>”Prime Minister Modi has emphasised that this is not an era of war. South Africa have climbed to fourth spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings after a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first Test on Thursday. The Proteas improved their point-percentage to 47.62 with the victory, which helped them jump over New Zealand and England and take fourth place on the standings.
