After EY Worker’s Death, Techie Reveals His Wife’s Experience With Company

A Bengaluru-based techie has shared his wife’s horrific experience working at Ernst & Young (EY). Aakash Venkatasubramanian explained how his partner quit her job at EY due to the company’s “toxic work culture”, often demanding 18-hour workdays. Mr Venkatasubramanian’s LinkedIn post came days after the death of a 26-year-old EY employee allegedly due to “overwork”. “My wife quit EY just because of the toxic work culture,” Mr Venkatasubramanian wrote, “and if she had not quit, I don’t know what would have happened to her.” He went on to explain that the normalisation and glorification of 18-hour workdays by many multinational companies (MNCs) in India have created a harmful environment for workers.  The techie condemned the… Read More »After EY Worker’s Death, Techie Reveals His Wife’s Experience With Company

Opinion: Opinion | One Nation One Election (ONOE) Is Oh Noe!

Some people on Twitter say it like no other. “It’s rather amusing that One Nation, One Election abbreviates to ONOE – oh noe!”. The news stayed on primetime, tucking away the government’s ineffectual handling of the Manipur crisis. These con jobs have a… Read More »Opinion: Opinion | One Nation One Election (ONOE) Is Oh Noe!

“How Can You Say…”: Top Court Scolds CBI Over Bengal Post-Poll Violence Plea

The Supreme Court on Friday rebuked the Central Bureau of Investigation over the wording of a plea asking that cases related to violence after the 2021 Bengal election be heard outside the state. The CBI had filed a petition in December to transfer these cases citing concern over the possible intimidation of witnesses. However the language of that petition – which included references to a “hostile environment prevailing in the courts (in Bengal)”, irked the top court. A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Pankaj Mithal took exception to the federal agency casting aspersions against the “entire judiciary in Bengal”. “… you are talking as if there is a ‘hostile environment’ in the… Read More »“How Can You Say…”: Top Court Scolds CBI Over Bengal Post-Poll Violence Plea

Tirupati Laddoos Row Explained: Who Said What, Where Ghee Came From

Laddoos, specifically those offered as ‘prasadam’, or devotional offerings, at the temple town of Tirupati are the battleground de jour in Andhra Pradesh, after a lab in Gujarat indicated the presence of animal fat in the ghee used to make them. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Telugu Desam Party have ripped into his predecessor YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his YSR Congress Party over the “desecration” of the temple, a religious landmark that holds pride of place among practicing Hindus in the state and across India. The Chief Minister – who declared the temple would be “sanitised” – also accused his rival of corruption in negotiating tenders for buying the vast quantities of… Read More »Tirupati Laddoos Row Explained: Who Said What, Where Ghee Came From
