Popular Odisha Singer Ruksana Bano, 27, Dies, Family Alleges Poisoning

Popular Sambalpuri singer Ruksana Bano has died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, hospital sources said. Although hospital authorities said 27-year-old Ruksana was being treated for Scrub Typhus, they were yet to reveal the cause of her death that took place on Wednesday night. However, her mother and sister alleged she was poisoned by a rival singer from western Odisha, without revealing the artiste’s identity. US Cop Shoots Dead Judge Inside His Office After Argument, Arrested

A county sheriff was charged with murder Thursday after he allegedly shot and killed a district court judge in the southern US state of Kentucky. Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines was taken into custody in connection with a shooting at the Letcher County courthouse, the Louisville Courier Journal newspaper reported. He was charged with one count of murder in the first degree, according to CBS News.  A spokesperson for police told the outlet the shooting occurred after an argument between Stines and judge Kevin Mullins, 54, in the latter’s office.  Investigators have not yet announced a motive. CAT 2024 Application Window Closes Today

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta will close the registration process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 today. Interested and eligible candidates who wish to appear in the entrance exam can register on the official website of CAT 2024 by 5 pm today. IIM Calcutta had earlier extended the registration date for CAT 2024 to September 20. The previous deadline for CAT registrations was September 13.  Admit cards for the test are scheduled to be released on November 5. <p>The Israeli Defence Forces carried out intense airstrike in southern Lebanon late on Thursday after being accused of devising pager and walkie-talkie explosions that killed 37 people and wounded about 3,000 in the country.&nbsp;</p> <p>In the Thursday operation, Israeli jets struck hundreds of multiple rocket-launcher barrels in over two hours in southern Lebanon that were set to be fired immediately towards Israel, said the IDF, reported Reuters.&nbsp;</p> <p>The bombardment included over 52 strikes across southern Lebanon after 9 pm (local time), as per Lebanon’s state news agency NNA.
