S Jaishankar Holds Phone Call With Newly Appointed Ukrainian Counterpart

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held a phone conversation with newly-appointed Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha with a focus on boosting bilateral ties and finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. The conversation came nearly a month after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-profile trip to Kyiv. “I spoke with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to build on Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Kyiv and talks with Zelenskyy,” Sybiha said. “We agreed to take our bilateral relations forward in all promising areas of cooperation. 2 Electrocuted, 3 Missing As Boat Touches High-Tension Wire In Bihar

Two people have been electrocuted and three are missing after a boat came in contact with a high-tension wire in Bihar.  The boat had at least 12 people on it, including the boatman, when it came in contact with an 11,000-volt wire near Sonepur in Saran division on Thursday. Police officials said two people were electrocuted and three are missing, adding that all the passengers were from Baburban in Sitamarhi district.

Army, Police Find 28 Kg IEDs In Major Joint Operation In Manipur

Seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing 28.5 kg were found by the army and the police in a joint operation in Manipur, the army said in a statement today. The IEDs were defused by army engineers, the army said. The large quantity of IEDs was “recovered in the hilly areas near Bongjang and Itham villages in Imphal East district” during a search operation involving the army’s explosives detection dogs. The recovery has prevented a major disaster and saved precious lives, the army said. This was the second big haul of IEDs in Manipur in the last three months.
