Just over a year ago, when Chinese smartphone and telecoms giant Huawei launched its latest smartphone, the Mate60 Pro, eyebrows were raised in Washington. More than 85% of the 37 chips used in it were locally manufactured, including the advanced 7 nanometre (nm) chip. The Biden administration wondered how China had managed to produce the advanced chip that powered the phone. The White House was secure in the knowledge that the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 had erected enough high walls around its cutting microchip technology, ensuring that it remained out of China’s reach. Rajnath-Led DAC Approves 10 Capital Acquisitions Worth Rs 1.45 Lakh Cr For Future-Ready Combat Vehicles, Radars

<p>The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has greenlit 10 capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore, aiming to significantly enhance India’s defence capabilities. The Ministry of Defence (MoD), in a <a href=”https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2051323″>statement</a> issued on Tuesday, emphasised that “99% of the total cost of AoNs (Acceptance of Necessity) is from indigenous sources under Buy (Indian) and Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) categories.”</p> <p>Among the major approvals is the procurement of Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs), which is intended to modernise the Indian Army’s tank fleet. CISF Personnel At RG Kar Hospital Facing Severe Difficulty: Home Ministry Tells Supreme Court

Villagers Kill Jackal After It Kills More Than A Dozen People In UP

Villagers killed a jackal on Tuesday after it entered a house and attacked more than half a dozen people. The incident took place at the Bilpur village in the Jalalpur police station area when a jackal entered and attacked six persons, including a woman, officials said. Later, the villagers surrounded the animal and beat it with sticks, leading to its death, they said. The injured have been admitted to the hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable.
