Jharkhand Polls: CM Hemant Soren Meets Congress’s Kharge, Rahul Gandhi As INDIA Bloc Eyes ‘Massive Majority’

<p>New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi who asserted that the INDIA bloc will win the upcoming assembly polls in the state with a “massive majority”.</p> <p>The meeting comes days after former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren joined the BJP after resigning from the JMM citing dissatisfaction with the party&rsquo;s current style of functioning and “bitter humiliation”.</p> <p>Soren met Kharge and Gandhi at the Congress president’s residence here. Congress-AAP Alliance In Haryana? Negotiations To Begin Soon: Sources

The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have reached a ‘principal understanding’ to ally ahead of next month’s Haryana Assembly election, sources told NDTV Tuesday evening. The next step is to discuss seat-sharing, for which Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha for the AAP and KC Venugopal for the Congress will meet either tonight or tomorrow. All of this comes hours after it emerged that Rahul Gandhi suggested the INDIA bloc members continue a partnership formed before the April-June general election. UK Woman And Partner Jailed After Planning To Drug, Rape Her Six-Year-Old Daughter

A woman and her partner from Cornwall have been sentenced to prison for plotting to drug and rape her six-year-old daughter. The couple, whose identities are being withheld to protect the victim, were sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court on Friday, August 30. The woman, from East Cornwall, received a 17-year prison sentence, while the man, from North Cornwall, was sentenced to 13 years. Both were also given a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reported ITV News.  The investigation began in 2021 when the man accidentally left his phone with someone at a pub, who then discovered disturbing messages related to the sexual abuse of a young girl. Bengal Must Support CISF For Kolkata Hospital: Centre Approaches Top Court

The housing of Central Industrial Security Forces, deployed at the hospital where the shocking rape-murder of a doctor took place last month, appears set to be the next flashpoint between Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP. The Centre has now gone to the Supreme Court, contending that the Bengal government must house the CISF personnel who have been delegated to ensure security at the hospital. Anything less, it said, would amount to contempt of court.
