Supreme Court Relief To 30 Army Men In 2021 Botched Nagaland Operation

In a relief to 30 Army personnel, the Supreme Court on Tuesday closed the criminal proceedings initiated against them by the Nagaland government for allegedly killing 13 civilians in a 2021 botched operation to ambush militants in Mon district for want of prosecution sanction. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and PB Varale noted that the Centre had on February 28 last year declined to grant sanction to prosecute the personnel under section 6 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) of 1958. 3 Children Crushed Under Tractor Carrying Ganesh Idol In Maharashtra: Cops

Three children died and six persons were injured after being run over by a tractor trolly carrying a Ganesh idol in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on Tuesday, police said. The incident took place around 12.30 pm at Chitod village in Dhule tehsil. As the Ganesh immersion procession was about to start, the driver of the tractor got down for some reason, said a police official. Another man, a member of the Ganesh mandal which had organised the procession, climbed into the driver’s seat and started the vehicle but lost control of the wheels, he said.
