“Code Names In Series Reflect…”: Netflix On ‘IC 814’ Web Series Row

Netflix India has updated the opening disclaimer on its web series ‘IC-814 Kandahar Hijack” to include the real and code names of the hijackers, the OTT giant’s country content chief, Monika Shergill, said Tuesday. “For the benefit of audiences unfamiliar with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, the opening disclaimer has been updated… the code names in the series reflect those used during the actual event,” Ms Shergill said, acknowledging also that Netflix is “committed to showcasing (stories from India) with authentic representation”. Karnataka Declares Dengue An Epidemic, To Fine House, Shop Owners

Karnataka, which is witnessing its worst dengue outbreak in a decade, has declared the disease an epidemic. As part of the measures, the state government will levy penalties if rules meant for the curtailment of mosquito breeding sites are not followed in houses, commercial establishments and construction sites. The state has seen a surge in dengue cases with the number for this year crossing 24,500, which is nearly 5,000 more than the total number of cases reported for all of 2023. The fatalities have not been very high but sources said the government wanted to act before the number of deaths began to rise. CCTV Shows Student Being Chased By Cow Vigilantes Before Being Shot Dead

A new video has surfaced showing the Class 12 student in Haryana’s Faridabad who was allegedly chased in a car and killed by cow vigilantes who mistook him for a cattle smuggler. The CCTV installed at the Gadhpuri toll plaza on the Agra-Delhi national highway shows Aryan Mishra, the victim, in a red colour Renault Duster car with his friends on August 24.  The five accused – who have been arrested – can be seen following them in a Maruti Suzuki Swift at around 3 am.
