Supreme Court Upholds Anticipatory Bail To Prajwal Revanna’s Mother

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to set aside the anticipatory bail given to Bhavani Revanna, the mother of suspended JD(S) leader and rape accused Prajwal Revanna, in a kidnapping case while dismissing the Karnataka government’s plea. In a setback to the Karnataka government, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan took into account that the chargesheet had been filed in the case and refused to interfere with the Karnataka High Court order. During the hearing, the state government counsel claimed the mother was directly involved in allegedly procuring women for her son. <p>Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed his opposition to the celebration of Hindi-oriented events in non-Hindi speaking states through a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter comes ahead of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Chennai Doordarshan, which are being combined with Hindi Month Celebrations on October 18, 2024. SC Rejects PIL Seeking Autonomous Body To Monitor Content On OTT, Other Platforms

<p>The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Centre to set up an autonomous body to monitor and filter content and regulate videos on over-the-top (OTT) and other platforms in India, saying these are policy matters.</p> <p>A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said that such issue falls under the policy making domain of the executive and requires wide consultations with various stake-holders.</p> <p>”This is the problem of PILs.
