Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu is in India for a state visit, a significant moment in bilateral relations after the diplomatic relations between the states were severely affected when three Maldivian ministers made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Modi. Mr Muizzu has sought a Rs 3,000 crore currency swap deal with India to boost Maldivian foreign exchange reserves amid an economic crisis. Instead, she was astonished to discover that a virtual receptionist had replaced the front desk staff. Ms Narang shared the photo on LinkedIn and X, featuring the virtual receptionist on a laptop screen at the hotel’s front desk, dubbing it a “Peak Bengaluru” moment.  Ms Narang explained that only two security guards and a handful of technicians are physically present at the hotel. Data from NASA’s Worldview satellite, which detects fire events around the world, corroborates the assertion made by the Punjab government that stubble burning, a major cause of air pollution, in the state this year has been a fraction of what it has been over the last two years.
