New Zealand Edge West Indies To Reach Women’s T20 World Cup Final

New Zealand saw off the danger of Deandra Dottin to book their place in the Women’s T20 World Cup final with a nail-biting eight-run win over West Indies in Sharjah on Friday. After Dottin’s 4-22 restricted the White Ferns to 128-9, the all-rounder clubbed a superb 33 from 22 balls with three sixes as West Indies finished just short on 120-8. New Zealand will face South Africa, who knocked out defending champions Australia on Thursday, in Sunday’s final at Dubai. New Zealand, who lost in the finals at the first two tournaments in 2009 and 2010, made a solid start as Suzie Bates (26) and Georgia Plimmer (33) added 48 for the first wicket. But the… Read More »New Zealand Edge West Indies To Reach Women’s T20 World Cup Final

Meta Releases AI Model That Can Check How Other Models Work

Facebook owner Meta said on Friday it was releasing a batch of new AI models from its research division, including a “Self-Taught Evaluator” that may offer a path toward less human involvement in the AI development process. The release follows Meta’s introduction of the tool in an August paper, which detailed how it relies upon the same “chain of thought” technique used by OpenAI’s recently released o1 models to get it to make reliable judgments about models’ responses. That technique involves breaking down complex problems into smaller logical steps and appears to improve the accuracy of responses on challenging problems in subjects like science, coding and math. Meta’s researchers used entirely AI-generated data to train… Read More »Meta Releases AI Model That Can Check How Other Models Work

Video: AI Safety System Stops Train As Elephants Cross Tracks In Assam

A safety system driven by artificial intelligence (AI) helped stop a train in Assam while a herd of elephants were crossing the tracks at night. On October 16, the train driver JD Das and his assistant Umesh Kumar of Kamrup Express saw a herd of elephants crossing the railway tracks between Hawaipur and Lamsakhang stations at 8.30 pm. The train was going from Guwahati to Lumding. On seeing the elephants, they applied emergency brakes and saved some 60 wild elephants from colliding with the train. The two men were first alerted by the AI-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) implemented in this section of the railway tracks. The East Central railways plans to gradually install this… Read More »Video: AI Safety System Stops Train As Elephants Cross Tracks In Assam

Investors Can Use 3-In-1 Accounts To Apply For Some Debt Securities: SEBI

Markets regulator Sebi on Friday clarified that investors can continue using 3-in-1 accounts to apply online for public issues of debt securities, non-convertible redeemable preference shares, municipal debt securities, and securitised debt instruments. This is in addition to the existing modes of application, Sebi said in a circular. A three-in-one trading account combines a savings account, a demat account, and a trading account into a single integrated solution. In this case, the clients would have their funds in their bank account, earning interest on the cash balances. The clarification came after Sebi received feedback that there is a need to explicitly specify the usage of 3-in-1 type accounts for making an application in the public… Read More »Investors Can Use 3-In-1 Accounts To Apply For Some Debt Securities: SEBI
