Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday said that the devotees coming to Jagannath temple at Puri will soon get free ‘Mahaprasad’ (the food offerings to the Holy triad). Harichandan said that the government is planning to start the initiative soon after the devotees’ turnout declines following the end of the holy month of Karthik. “Keeping in view the footfall of devotees per day, it is estimated that an expenditure of around Rs 14 to 15 crore will be incurred annually for this initiative (free Mahaprasad service). FAIMA Calls Nationwide Shutdown Of Hospitals’ Elective Services From Monday After ‘Ultimatum’ To Bengal CM Mamata

<p>Kolkata, Oct 13 (PTI) The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), a body representing Resident Doctors’ Associations (RDAs) across India, called for a nationwide shutdown of elective services in hospitals from Monday in solidarity with medics’ ongoing protest in West Bengal, an official of the body said.</p> <p>The decision was taken after a meeting of FAIMA on Saturday. North Korea’s artillery units near the border with South Korea have been ordered to be ready to fire amid frictions over drones that Pyongyang says are being flown over the frontier, state media cited the government as saying on Sunday. Some defectors and activists in South Korea fly aid parcels into the North and drop leaflets criticising leader Kim Jong Un. North Korea has blamed the South Korean military for the practice. In a joint operation of Delhi and Gujarat Police, at least 518 kilograms of cocaine were recovered from Gujarat’s Ankleshwar on Sunday and five people were arrested, officials said. The officials said the new seizure was connected to the recovery of 700 kilograms of cocaine in Delhi. With this, 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, worth more than Rs 13,000 crore, have been recovered so far. The number of arrests in this connection has risen to 12. Sources said this is believed to be the biggest-ever seizure by any agency in the country.
