The Centre’s air pollution control panel for Delhi-NCR on Monday directed state governments in the region to implement the first stage of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) as the capital’s air quality was in the ‘poor’ category for the second consecutive day. The Stage I of GRAP, a set of winter-specific anti-pollution measures, focuses on controlling pollution through dust mitigation at construction sites, proper waste management, and regular road cleaning. India, Canada Expel Diplomats In Tit-For-Tat Move Amid Deepening Rift

India on Monday asked Canadian diplomats in New Delhi to leave the country by Saturday after Ottawa said it was investigating its Indian ambassador and other diplomats as “persons of interest”, after the killing last year of a Sikh separatist leader. Baba Siddique Shooters Were Given Flex Banner To Identify Target: Cops

The plot to kill former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was hatched over 100 km away in Pune months ago during several meetings. The shooters were given Rs 50,000 as an advance, Baba Siddique’s photo and a flex banner to “identify the target”, the cops revealed.  Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 outside his son’s office in Mumbai. Three shooters – Gurmel Baljit Singh, Dharmaraj Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam from Uttar Pradesh killed – Baba Siddique. The cops have arrested Gurmel and Dharmaraj, the third shooter on the run. Israel Intercepts Rockets Fired From Lebanon, Air Raid Sirens Activated

The Israeli army on Monday said air raid sirens were activated across central Israel, including the commercial hub of Tel Aviv, as projectiles were fired across the border from Lebanon. “Sirens sounded in a number of areas in central Israel due to projectiles fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory,” the army said in a statement. The police said they had deployed officers to locate and secure any potential impact sites “to ensure public safety”. In a later statement, the military said that “several interception attempts were made toward a number of projectiles that crossed from Lebanon”. A software engineer was fatally stabbed when he objected to four men drinking liquor after crowding around his parked scooter in Jabalpur city, police said on Monday. The incident occurred under Ghamapur police station limits during the intervening night of Sunday-Monday and the victim was identified as Naveen Sharma, an official said. Ghamapur police station in-charge Satish Kumar Andhwan said the 42-year-old IT professional went to Kanchghar to see a Dussehra procession along with his friend on Sunday night on his scooter.
