<p>The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has greenlit 10 capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore, aiming to significantly enhance India’s defence capabilities. The Ministry of Defence (MoD), in a <a href=”https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2051323″>statement</a> issued on Tuesday, emphasised that “99% of the total cost of AoNs (Acceptance of Necessity) is from indigenous sources under Buy (Indian) and Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) categories.”</p> <p>Among the major approvals is the procurement of Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs), which is intended to modernise the Indian Army’s tank fleet. Bengal Must Support CISF For Kolkata Hospital: Centre Approaches Top Court

The housing of Central Industrial Security Forces, deployed at the hospital where the shocking rape-murder of a doctor took place last month, appears set to be the next flashpoint between Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP. The Centre has now gone to the Supreme Court, contending that the Bengal government must house the CISF personnel who have been delegated to ensure security at the hospital. Anything less, it said, would amount to contempt of court.

Haryana’s Subhan Khan has emerged as a real-life hero after rescuing nine people marooned on a bridge amid raging floods in Telangana. Mr Khan drove a bulldozer to the bridge and returned with the group stuck on it. Nine people were trapped on Prakash Nagar bridge on Munneru river in Telangana’s Khammam district after the rise in water level. They recorded a video, requesting the state government to rescue them. 41 Killed In Ukraine’s Poltava After Russia Launches 2 Ballistic Missiles

At least 41 people have been killed in Ukraine’s Poltava after Russia launched two ballistic missiles today, Ukraine President Zelensky said today. Writing on social media website X, President Zelensky said, “I received preliminary reports on the Russian strike in Poltava. According to available information, two ballistic missiles hit the area. They targeted an educational institution and a nearby hospital, partially destroying one of the telecommunications institute’s buildings.” He went on to write that many are feared trapped in the debris.
