‘Trudeau Has Let Canadians Down’: Former Sikh Ally Jagmeet Singh

New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh has reacted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement to resign from the position of Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader.

The NDP leader, who was once an ally of Justin Trudeau, has criticised the latter for his way of handling of issues related to housing, groceries and healthcare.

Singh said that the Prime Minister has let down the Canadians and the Liberals do not deserve another chance. Taking a potshot at the Conservative party, he accused it of giving preference to the CEOs.

In a post shared by Jagmeet Singh on X (Formerly Twitter), he posted, “Below is my statement on Justin Trudeau’s resignation. If you oppose callous Conservative cuts. If you oppose the rich getting richer while everyone else falls further behind. Stand with the NDP this time.”

In a statement, he said, “Justin Trudeau has let you down, over and over. He let you down on the cost of housing and groceries. He let you down on fixing health care. It doesn’t matter who leads the Liberals. They don’t deserve another chance.”

”Conservatives are jumping at the opportunity to take from you and give more to CEOs. You will pay the price of Poilievre’s cuts. If you oppose callous Conservative cuts; if you oppose the rich getting richer while everyone else falls further behind – stand with the NDP this time. You can have a government that works for you for a change”, he further added.
