Ending a long wait, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her way to the Lok Sabha after she won the Wayanad parliamentary constituency in the bypolls held last month. The byelections were necessitated after her brother and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi moved to the Raebareli seat.

She won the constituency with an even bigger margin than what Rahul won. Her final score stood at 4 lakh votes, more than her nearest rival and CPI veteran Sathyan Mokeri’s tally of about 2 lakh votes.

Rahul had won the seat by a margin of over 3.65 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha elections held this year.
