Committee Formed to Tackle Digital Arrest Issues, Led by Special Secretary of Internal Security

A committee has been established to investigate the ‘Digital Arrest’ case, with the Special Secretary of Internal Security appointed as its head. This development comes in response to growing concerns over fraudulent activities targeting citizens. During his recent “Mann Ki Baat” address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the seriousness of this issue, emphasizing that no legitimate government agency would threaten individuals over the phone to demand money. He cautioned the public that those involved in such deceptive practices often impersonate officials from various agencies, including the police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), or narcotics officers, to instill fear and manipulate victims into complying with their demands. The formation of this committee aims to address the rising incidents of digital fraud and protect citizens from such scams. The Prime Minister’s remarks serve as a reminder for people to remain vigilant and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be from a government agency before taking any action. The government is committed to tackling these fraudulent activities to ensure the safety and security of the public in the digital age.
