<span style=”color: #ba372a;”>What Is Semicon India 2024?

The conference is expected to attract top executives, experts, and companies from the global semiconductor industry. According to government sources, over 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers will participate, reflecting India’s growing influence in the semiconductor sector.

The Indian government has been taking significant steps to boost the country’s semiconductor capabilities. The Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM), launched in December 2021, is a major part of this effort, supported by a Rs 76,000-crore incentive package and a 50 per cent subsidy on capital expenditure for setting up manufacturing facilities. Companies like Micron, Tata-PSMC, CG Power, and Kaynes Technology have already announced plans to set up semiconductor units in India.

<span style=”color: #ba372a;”>PM Modi Engages With Industry Leaders

On September 10, ahead of the event, Prime Minister Modi held a roundtable discussion with semiconductor industry leaders at his residence. The meeting included representatives from major organizations such as SEMI, Micron, NXP, PSMC, IMEC, and Renesas, along with academic experts from Stanford University, the University of California San Diego, and IIT.

During the discussion, Modi emphasized India’s goals in the semiconductor sector, highlighting the country’s focus on infrastructure development, inclusive growth, and reducing compliance burdens to attract investment. He underscored India’s potential to become a significant player in the global semiconductor supply chain.

Semicon India 2024 is set to be a pivotal event in India’s journey toward becoming a leading force in the global semiconductor landscape, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of transforming India into a prominent semiconductor hub.
