Dispelling rumours of discord within the Mahayuti alliance, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat affirmed on Monday that Eknath Shinde had made it clear that the Shiv Sena would accept any decision made by senior BJP leaders. Speaking to ANI, Shirsat, the MLA from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (West), reiterated, “Eknath Shinde has said in a press conference that the Mahayuti government will be formed. He also stated, ‘I am not a hindrance; we (Shiv Sena) don’t have any demand.’”

Shirsat criticised the ongoing speculations about internal differences, saying, “After such clear statements, putting allegations against him isn’t fair. Whatever senior leaders decide, we will accept that.”

He dismissed claims of discord within the alliance but acknowledged that clarity was still needed regarding cabinet portfolios in the soon-to-be-formed government.

”There are no differences in Mahayuti,” he said, adding, “I believe there will be a meeting between <a title=”Eknath Shinde” href=”https://news.abplive.com/topic/eknath-shinde” data-type=”interlinkingkeywords”>Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar to discuss portfolios, and all confusion will be resolved.”

All BJP MLAs have been instructed to arrive in Mumbai by Tuesday afternoon. Following the leader’s selection, the Mahayuti alliance is expected to stake its claim to form the government at Raj Bhavan.

According to a senior BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He is likely to be elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party during the meeting.

While BJP’s Mahayuti allies, Shiv Sena and NCP, have already elected their respective leaders, the official government formation has been delayed despite the alliance’s massive win in the recent assembly elections.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 132 seats, propelling the Mahayuti alliance to a decisive victory. However, the government is yet to be sworn in over a week after the results were announced.

The oath-taking ceremony of the new Mahayuti government is scheduled for the evening of December 5 at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.
