Meher Vij, who portrayed Rasia, Munni’s mother in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, shared how she got selected for the film. The actress recently sat down for an interview with NDTV’s Hardika Gupta and recalled the time when she got a call from casting director Mukesh Chhabra. She shared that she auditioned for the film and added, “I was shooting for an ad when I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra. I received a call from their agency at 9-9:30 PM. After I finished my shooting, I went to meet them, and they told me, ‘We want to know if the mole under your eyes is real or not.’ I said, ‘Who is asking that?’ They replied, ‘Kabir Khan is asking that.’ I asked, ‘Why is he asking that? Why would I put a fake mole?’ They said, ‘That’s great. You are doing the film.’ I then asked, ‘Why was it related to my mole?’ Maybe the mole was the moral of the story for them; maybe it was something that really attracted him.

When asked if she ever asked Kabir Khan what the story behind the mole was, Meher Vij said, “I never asked him. Maybe it added to his character. Sometimes small little things on your face add to the character. I don’t think I have a perfect face. Nobody has a perfect face. The more imperfect you are, the better you look onscreen. It adds value to your character, it adds more weightage to your character. Nobody is perfect, and you don’t have to be good-looking to be an actor.”

On the work front, Meher Vij was last seen in Bandaa Singh Chaudhary, co-starring Arshad Warsi. She is best known for her roles in the drama films Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Secret Superstar (2017), both of which are among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. For her performance in Secret Superstar, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In addition to films, she has appeared in television shows such as Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and Ram Milaye Jodi.
