Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus Of Tata Group, In Critical Condition At Mumbai Hospital: Report

<p>Ratan Tata, Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus and veteran industrialist, is reportedly in critical condition in intensive care at a hospital in Mumbai, news agency Reuters reported, citing two sources.</p>
<p>On Monday, the 86-year-old philanthropist said he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age and related medical conditions.</p>
<p>The report said that there was no update on his condition by a Tata representative as of Wednesday. It also stated that Tata has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital.</p>
<p>In a statement published on his social media profiles on Monday, Tata assured his health was fine and that there was no cause for concern.</p>
<p>”I am aware of recent rumors circulating regarding my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are unfounded. I am currently undergoing medical check-ups due to my age and related medical conditions. There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits and request that the public and media respect refrain from spreading misinformation,” the statement read.</p>

<p>According to Reuters, the sources did not provide furter details on the nature of Tata’s illness. One of the source is also said to be close to the Tata family.</p>
<p>In 1991, Ratan Tata became the chairman of the autos to steel conglomerate and ran the group until 2012. The Tata group was founded by his great-grandfather Jamshedji Tata more than a hundred years ago.</p>
<p>He founded telecommunications company Tata Teleservices in 1996 and took IT company Tata Consultancy Services public in 2004.</p>
<p>As per Tata company’s website, Ratan Tata was conferred with the title of chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Tata Chemicals after he stepped down.</p>
